何紫缘
Jaspers's "the idea of a university" is a little less well known than Newman's "the idea of a university" or garset's "the mission of a university". However, in search of his another more famous book "what is education" and failed circumstances, borrow this book, originally only intended to express depressed in the heart of me, but there is a happy, after reading praise unexpected harvest. Jaspers is an outstanding representative of German existentialism philosophy. In translation, wise and passionate, it is like the third layer of flame, triggered by knowledge and emotion, and containing knowledge and emotion, in the vast space and time, uncontrollably bright. Three things struck me about this little book. First of all, jakob believes that "the idea of the university obtains its impetus of educational activities from the basic human will to know", and "oneness and wholeness" are the essence of the human will to know ". I believe it because it combines emotion and cognition from the deepest roots of human nature. If we can integrate our cognitive activities with our emotional will throughout our lives, we can reduce the waste of human resources, increase individual happiness and the wealth of humanity as a whole. To put it another way, "we need to do what we love and what we're good at." The second point is jakob's judgment on technological activities: "all technological activities are based on the deliberate will to achieve a fuller human existence in this world." I think this is still something that should be borne in mind by every modern scientific and technological worker. Moreover, "if a university serves science and scholarship, and science and scholarship are meaningful only when they are part of the whole spiritual life, then surely this spiritual life is the very foundation of a university." If a college student is not in school to experience and participate in this spiritual life, we may be able to judge that the student has not received a true college education. The third point is his view on talent. "The most important thing for the survival of a university is that it depends on people, not institutions, because institutions are nothing more than a material premise." Only in this way can we always embrace the good hope and firm faith in the education cause in the face of the current Chinese university system which is quite dissatisfactory. "The pursuit of truth in universities requires the whole man's devotion." The only thing we can do, and the only thing we have to do, is to improve ourselves. Perfection of oneself necessarily involves the perfection of others' relations. The saying goes, "if you want to establish yourself, others will be established; if you want to achieve success, others will be established." The perfection of others' relationship needs to be achieved through certain medium. And the medium, whether it is language, concept, technology, etc., is the knowledge learned and the implements formed by it. Jacobi believed that "his human nature is the result of the interaction between natural endowment and history". He emphasized a kind of spirit and temperament of "intellectual investment", "they are a kind of personal investment in the sense of intelligence, a kind of motivation (this kind of motive is not included in the self-expression, successful, and get ahead of the kind of happiness), a kind of dedication to work, a spiritual noble character, a sincere and a passion for learning". A person to find their mission in this life, we must carefully listen to the voice of the heart, we must dare to put aside the reality of fame and profit, look for it, we must dare to in a road that even the basic life is not guaranteed, all the way forward. But would this man be hungry and sleeping out? Perhaps. But this person's mission is, life will be. Is cowardly, is vulgar, let us take the endless detour, so that only sigh and look back. Wish we forever bath idea and ideal glow, "poetic land resides".
