Yuan dynasty at the beginning of 13th century: The Chinese shadow play was introduced to Southeast Asia and Europe.
1774: the great German poet Goethe had run the show of shadow play.
1781: a shadow play was shown at Goethe’s birthday dinner.
1982: the “san mei ban” shadow play troupe of the former German Federal Republic had played the segment of Xixiangji which is a famous Chinese drama.
The shadow play troupe was invited to conduct a mise en scene in the showplace of Italy, the so-called “hometown of opera”.
1997: The shadow play troupe finished its road show in Portugal and France.
