I feel very rejoicing and joyful to choose this book to fulfill my mental life in this winter holiday,I can say it’s my pleasure.Mr Gu took a pen to protect our dignity,made the whole world amazed at his outstanding English basis and ancient Chinese cultural level and let this book turn into the precious culture heritage of the world.He assured and explained the four significant features from the spirit of the Chinese people:deep,broad,simple and delicacy.

Mr Gu compared the Chinese people with the ones in America,England,Germany and French.And he highlighted the spirit of the Chinese people has always been deeply affected by the thought of the Confucius so the Chinese people usually show good manner as a distinction which varies from people in other countries.From what Mr.Gu said,he supposed that Chinese people led a life which based on both the reality and the heart and was filled with the feelings of poetry.In his opinion,Chinese people are often the first to pay attention to gentle and be polite,who will never have the willing to fight with others violently as usual.

Here Mr.Gu divided the whole book into certain parts to talk and comment,so the articles in it look detailed and proper,clear and wonderful.However,due to the book is written by almost pure English that I have seldom read,I felt a bit challenging and excited.Especially at last I turned to the two parts Chinese Woman and Chinese Language, I saw loads of delicate poems I knew or I didn’t know,where they presented line by line made me very cheerful and moved.From then on I have been admiring and respecting Mr.Gu more than before.Not only did I see the famous poem which is very touched by poet Tu Fu,but also I was delighted to see the perfect English translation of it by Mr.Gu that looks mild and lovely.He translated the title into Meeting With an Old Friend,which is just fascinating and I shared it with my best friend at once.At the same time,the poem moves us into tears by Chen Tao,which shows the deep love from a wife to his husband in army,made me can’t agree more with it.I think that Mr.Gu can understand the Chinese people in the recent years and he said the belief of mine really.And it’s also the reason that the book can be well-known worldwide,because everyone can notice his brilliant writing skills and seek and pursue for the knowledge they desire for,and they can find the true spirit of the Chinese people as well so it is translated into several languages and it has certain versions now.

As the country which has nearly five thousand years of cultural history,China just has no reason to lose confidence and self-respect in culture itself.Additional,Mr.Gu,a genius at that time,wrote this book to account for the spirit of the Chinese people,is the thing we should learn from him.Besides,I’m just in the hope that whenever we are,as long as we are Chinese,we will never give up the spirit that Mr.Gu said in the book!
