Olivia AHThe Old Man and the Sea is arguably the most typical Hemingway novel, concentrating on Hemingway's world and Hemingway's philosophy of life. The subject matter of the novel was obtained from an old Cuban fisherman, and Hemingway lapped it up for more than ten years. He not only enriched the story with his long-acquired wealth of knowledge about fishing, but also supplemented and tailored it into the subject matter he needed.

The most outstanding spirit of the old man is perseverance. Along the way, he encountered all kinds of accidents and difficulties, physical and mental pain, but he never gave up, and often talked to himself to encourage himself. The old man's strong and optimistic spirit is worth learning, especially when we encounter difficulties.
