After reading The Life of Mrs. Parkar, I feel deep sympathy for the
elderly working‑class woman. Mrs. Parkar spends her whole‑life
labouring. She suffers endless losses: her husband passes away early,
most children die young, and her beloved little‑grandson leaves her
forever. She hides all grief politely in front of employers yet has
nowhere to release her pain. The story exposes the tough fate of
ordinary women under social pressure. It is a short‑but‑touching piece
worth reading.
