Cai Lun

Among Cai Lun's various inventions and creations, his greatest contribution is his invention of papermaking. In the first year of the Yuanxing reign of Emperor He of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cai Lun presented the first batch of paper to Emperor He. From then on, people regarded the year 105 AD when Cai Lun presented paper to the emperor as the birth year of the first purposeful production of plant fiber paper using specialized methods in human history.
