The Haimingway's style

This is really a very very short story which only have three pages , the typical style of Haimingway's works-----iceberg theory.Hemingway's novels are of a distinctive and artistic writing style with a plain language, which presents his Iceberg Theory with deep implications, varieties of implied meanings and symbol colors. This story  just use the simple and unadorned words represent a clear love line to us.The leading lady finally break up with her first lover in the long distance during World War Ⅰbeacause of the charming major who made love to Luz when she worked alone in the town.In the end,the major didn't marry her in the spring,or any other time.That is totally a bad ending and a sad love story.Actually I cannot get the author's point conveyed in the story but in my opinion,it reflects the cruelty of war which tore the couples apart  ,letters cannot send love and miss exactly to each other in time,so resulted in the broke-up.And the forever love may be only a day dream or  an ideal imaginary in the story book.
