As the Time Traveler travels further into the future, he witnesses the sun grow dim and humanity decline until it is reduced to a small group of crab-like creatures who live in the darkness. He eventually returns to his own time, and attempts to share his experiences with his friends. However, they are skeptical and dismissive, believing that he must have simply fallen asleep and dreamt the whole experience.

"The Time Machine" is a haunting and unsettling novel that explores the dangers of social inequality and the consequences of humanity's actions.
