The Time Machine is one of the two most famous works by the English
writer Herbert George Wells (the other is the all too familiar War of
the Worlds). These two works at that time I was addicted to for a long
time. And one of the things that interested me most was the wonder of
time travel: it also sparked a great debate about the social and ethical
issues of time travel. The story is equally engrossing, full of thrills
and suspense. "The Time Machine" uses a certain borderline
horror approach and a convoluted plot to present a powerfully moving
story and paint a frightening picture of the world to come. The time
traveler is a Wellesian hero who disdains science (Verne heroes are more
technical heroes) and has great powers but cannot change reality. The
whole work gives a certain sense of desolation. What is most interesting
about this story is the wonder of time travel: it also sparked a huge
social and ethical debate about time travel at the time
