The Old Man and the Sea , written by Ernest Hemingway, tells the story of an old man who challenges nature. In the book "The Old Man and the Sea", the old man is poor at first, ill-fated, and drifts at sea every day without gain, but even under such circumstances, he still has a lofty goal - one day, he can catch a big fish that surprises people. The old man tried his best to prove his strength, and refused to succumb to his fate. After repeated challenges and failures, he succeeded! He caught a big fish, and although the fish was eaten by the shark, the huge skeleton was amazing, and he was exhausted... He couldn't help but feel heartfelt joy at the results of his hard work. Behind this, is a great man who challenges nature with a mortal body, in the face of life, setbacks and challenges, he did not give up, he fought against his fate with an unyielding attitude, and when he was sad and desperate, he resolutely stood up and fought against the fate of nothingness.

When I first read the novel, I didn't have that deep feeling, but after learning about the author's life story, my attitude changed completely. Hemingway was influenced by his family in his childhood, a lot of knowledge, and then joined the battlefield, survived, and this also gave him a warrior spirit. In the novel, the old man was ridiculed and isolated because of his failure to catch fish. After several days of fighting with the big fish, he still only got a skeleton. You may think that this is still a failure, but I don't think so. What is failure? Failure is when a person tries his best but still fails and finally gives up and feels sorry. Although the old man did not catch the big fish, he still felt gratified for his efforts. For the old man, the real victory was not what kind of return, but that he could pursue his ideal and fight against the limit through his best efforts. What Hemingway wanted to create must have been a character bearing the spirit of a warrior, and what he wanted to tell us must have been embodied by the old man.

A person's body is limited, and dare to challenge themselves, dare to fight against the nature of the spirit of the people is no limit. Everyone's life is an endless, tortuous muddy race, and every one of us is an athlete, in the course of the race, we will encounter all kinds of setbacks, when we fall, in the face of the endless road ahead, there will be a choice of life, if we give up, will always fall, disappear in people's sight; And if we can reinvigorate, resolutely stand up, to fight against the fate full of difficulties, even if may never reach the end, our spirit of fighting for it is worthy of respect, and the sweat after the struggle, is the best proof of the winner!

What is the difference between the old man and the old man in the sea and our contemporary people? We seek the goal we want to achieve all our life, but on the way forward, we always encounter many unexpected setbacks and failures, we also have doubts about their own confused, for their fragile life feel lonely and helpless. Reading Hemingway is like looking inside yourself. We should not just care about their own spirit and thoughts, more important is that there should be a warrior spirit, dare to face the challenge, dare to resist. Dare to struggle for their own ideal, tomorrow, even if failure and what?

So, what can we learn after reading this story? First of all, we should correct our attitude and not be intimidated by difficulties. The San Diego old man did not give up in the face of such a desperate situation, you know, can defeat us, only ourselves. Secondly, we should build up confidence, look for feasible solutions, and be good at using tools. The old man fought the fish for three days and two nights, not with his bare hands, but with harpoons, OARS and other tools. Therefore, we should calmly analyze the difficulties encountered, and formulate solutions and plans, in addition, we should be good at using external forces. What's more, we should persevere and never give up easily. If Santiago had not lasted three days and two nights, it is likely that he would have been eaten by the big fish and not saved his life. Sometimes, adversity can last for a long time, and the problems to be solved can be complex. At such times, we need to convince ourselves to persevere.

Life is not as good as it should be. And throughout life, we need to overcome and please only ourselves. Therefore, when reading the old man and the sea, we should also examine ourselves, in this seemingly ordinary life, everything seems so insignificant, but when we really understand ourselves, the struggle against fate is the best harvest and growth! Only when you figure out what you want can you gradually move towards that goal. Knowing oneself, surpassing oneself, and knowing how to please oneself are the main prerequisites for walking in the world.
