Pip lost his parents when he was fifteen. He was brought up by his
sister and brother-in-law. His brother-in-law was a blacksmith. He
apprenticed Pip, taught him to do business, and made friends with him.
After Christmas, Pip was invited to play with Estra, a beautiful girl
adopted by Miss Havisham. Miss Havisham is the richest person in the
village, but she looks strange. Her fiance left her on the wedding day
and took away a large amount of her property. From then on, she wore a
wedding dress all her life. So she lives in revenge and hates all men.
She takes Estella as a tool to revenge all men. When Pip met Estella, he
fell in love with her for a moment, and Estella also fell in love with
her, but Estella knew that she was just a tool to implement Miss
Havisham's revenge plan, so she pretended to be proud, indifferent and
looked down on Pip, thinking that he was just a relative of a poor
blacksmith, which made Pip sad, so that he was ill. After Joe received a
letter describing Pip's bad situation, despite Pip's bad attitude to
Joe, Joe came to him to take care of him. After recovery, Pip realized
that he was wrong, and he decided to become a gentleman through his own
efforts. So he returned to the small village and spared no effort to do
business with his friend Herbert. A few years later, Pip met Estella
again in Miss Havisham's old house. After knowing that her husband had
died and that Estella had not chosen him before, Pip proposed to her.
Finally, the couple came together, and Pip finally found his real
future. When I finish reading this novel, I will also consider such a
question: What is the real great future? In fact, in my opinion, a great
future does not mean money, nor does it mean the luxurious life provided
by others, nor is it a gift from parents, but a dream that we hope to
realize through our own efforts. A great future may be a series of
efforts, a decent degree, a good job, a warm family, etc., but we must
know that our future and great future must be in our own hands. In any
case, we should work for them, fight for them, and even sacrifice for
them. Only when we get what we want through our own efforts can we say
that we have a great future.
