Why Gatsby is great?

This is what happened to Gatsby, but he never regretted it,never relishing it ,and in todays impetuous times,What's missing is the depth of the work.In part,,it was a reflection of what was going on in the United states at the time.The opulence of the upper classes ,the luxury of the Bright lights ,Big city,was still the time ,and there was a huge class gap,eventhough gastby has a lot of wealth but it could never change his improved background and although many of the upper classes came to his parties.they certainly did not look down upon him.Gatsby was destined to be sad ,but that alone was enough to make him great .In an age of materialism and money ,a simple upwardly mobile man .The American Dream has its origins in colonial times ,when Bebjamin developed the doctrine of the pursuitof individualism and self-reliance in pursuit of happiness.That is to say ,anyone ,regardless of his origin,race of religion,can succeed with courage ,diligence and luck.The reason why it is called the American dream ,but just set food on the new contient of Europe ,the face of this fertile land ,believe that their dreams can be realized in this vast land .In fact ,everyone is equal,fair competition is not the common dream of mankind.But the Great Gastby poured cold wateron the people who were pursuing the American dream.
