Feelings
故梦
Today, I want to share my feelings after reading The Time Machine. This
book is about a time traveler who invented a machine that can gallop
freely in the past and the future in the latitude of time. When he
arrived at a certain year B.C. by machine, he was presented with a
strange scene of fear of strangers. Human beings are divided into two
races: the Eloeans and the Moroks. The former is delicate and beautiful
and has lost the ability to work. The latter kind of people are
ferocious, working all day long and living a wet and gloomy underground
life. The Moroks provided for the elloys, and in the evening they were
short of food. The loathsome Morlock stole the time traveler's machine.
After some adventures, the time machine was recovered. In the meantime,
the time traveler met Weina, an arloy, who gave him unselfish love in
this strange world. Unfortunately, Weina died in the fire. The time
traveler continued his journey and saw some retro images of cancer,
giant butterfly, Chenghai, solar eclipse and so on tens of millions of
years later. He finally came back to the "now" when his life
was in danger and told his friends about his journey. Soon he embarked
on a second journey of time and never came back. The general content of
this book is such a story. And what impresses me most is the way of life
and getting along with the people of the two countries. In the future,
despite the development of science and technology and the evolution of
human beings, like the Eloeans and Moroks, the gap still exists
differentiation. The images of molochs preying on the elloys are
frightening. Through the comparison of these two kinds of people, we can
see that human evolution and social injustice are a contradictory
phenomenon in the development of human society, and the development of
civilization and the step of science and technology may be at the cost
of the degradation of human nature. Human beings are not necessarily
perfect in the process of evolution and injustice. The author warns
human society that, while human civilization is highly developed and
perfected, human energy, passion and creativity will gradually
degenerate, accompanied by the loss of conscience, morality, social
structure and achievements of civilization. Therefore, each of us should
have a rigorous attitude towards such issues, instead of stopping the
progress of morality and conscience due to the highly developed
civilization. As the author said, as long as the human warmth is not
lost, the soul is not empty, and the progress of human nature is
accompanied by the development of science and civilization, human beings
will still have hope. In this way, everyone should hope for the future,
rather than refuse to move forward. As long as we adhere to the inner
moral integrity, I believe that the future is always what people expect.
