My favorite character in The Scarlet Letter is Hester Prynne, who was tried for being convicted of adultery and will always wear the red A, which stands for shame. Local laws are very strict. When she was asked to stand on the trial stand to tell her who the father of the child was, she would rather be punished and resolutely bear the consequences without giving his name in order to defend the reputation and pure love of her lover. He is Arthur Dimmesdale, a well-educated, elegant and respectful priest with a high reputation in the parish. Compared with Hester, he seemed cowardly. So Hester was punished for holding the child on the gallows for two hours, wearing a scarlet A-character dress for life, representing adultery, and carving A on the grave until he died. She was like an angel nailed to a pillar of disgrace. However, this brave day uses its weak body to bear everything like a wild rose in a desert bush. The storm does not lower the angel's head. For Yongpei's letter A on her body, she was not afraid at all, but embroidered the letter A beautifully on her chest. Since then, although every inhabitant has rejected her and refused to associate with her, as if the city was to be isolated from her, she still gave her love to everyone and did everything she could to help others. She could face the spite and contempt of all, but could not face her and Arthur's daughter, Pearl. As she said, "Pearl is my happiness! It's also my torment! Pearl told me to live in the world! It was Pearl who punished me! She is the scarlet letter, but she has the power to repay my sins by tens of millions of times!" Pearl punished Hester like a living "scarlet letter" in the eyes of all, reminding her of the terrible past from time to time. Pearl was born to laugh, attack and question the suspicious scarlet letter on her chest. However, this brave woman, intentionally dressing up her little Pearl, not only defended her right to bring her up, but also respected the wild nature of the child and tried to cultivate her adult. Seven years later, Arthur decided to face his mistakes and confess his sins in front of the masses with Hester. Finally, he accomplished the purification of morality and the soaring of soul by exposing the "evil" mark on his chest. The scarlet letter is shining on them. Finally, her A-word shame is gradually forgotten, but many people think that A-word stands for "angel", "able", "admirable", "advance", "art", "amorous" and so on. Finally, out of her attachment to the loved one, she not only refused to stay away from his parish in her lifetime, but also gave up the superior life of sharing the happiness of kinship with her daughter after his death. She returned to the place where his bones were buried and put on the scarlet letter again until she was buried next to him, so that she could always guard and snuggle up with him. And on the tombstone is inscribed the phrase "dark land, scarlet A". The Scarlet Letter expresses the current social situation and human destiny, and explores the philosophy of "good" and "evil" of human beings. Social forces are powerful. In reality, natural forces cannot defeat social forces. But the works express that the natural forces of courage and kindness prevail over the social forces. Hester is the embodiment of lofty morality, which affects a society full of evil. And I was touched by her courage and kindness. Her bravery and kindness eventually turned the symbol of evil on her chest into the symbol of virtue and became the saint and angel.
