  This book is about love between an obsessive man and a money worshiper.Gatsby spent his whole life pursuing love.His was a great person but abandoned by the whole world.His dream was bound to fail,just like the American dream.So the true meaning of this novel is the destruction of the American dream.At the era where the author lived ,America is going towards decline.but everyone is addicted to alcohol and money.This is a flashy era,and the American dream is illusory.Tragedy is in evitable.Just like the last sentence in the book said:"So we beat on, boats against the current,borne back ceaselessly into the past.”But for myself,I still admire Gatsby for his pure love and pessistence. All men add up to be inferior to him.The great Gatsby is a great hero in a bad era.
