The Little Prince is far more than a children’s fairy tale. The desert’s beauty, as the little prince says, lies in the hidden well—and this metaphor lies at the heart of the book. What makes things precious is never their superficial appearance, but the "secrets" and connections hidden deep within: the rose the prince cherishes, the fox’s "taming", or the treasure in the old house of the narrator’s childhood. Saint-Exupéry uses this gentle wisdom to remind us to look beyond the barren surface of life and find the tender treasures that make existence meaningful.
